I am tired of being charged overdraft fees when my bank account IS NOT overdrawn. IBC has these two seperate sections they do their computing from: Pending and Posted. Depending on who you talk to and what you are complaining about, IBC will charge you an overdraft fee just about whenever they want and use that pending section to justify it.

However, if you deposit money it can sit in that pending section for days while overdraft charges keep piling up. When you try to call them on it they have excuses for that too. You either didn't make the deposit/transfer in time, you didn't make it at all, the charges were made on posted items (even though you KNOW because you checked on-line they were done while the item was pending). The costomer service people have actually given me a lecture on doing a better job of budgeting and made me feel like an idiot. All the while, on paper your account was never overdrawn.

How can that happen? And I am not the first. I did a 30 minute search and found 5 other victims. How many more of you are out there? Please let me know!!! I want to take ACTION!! Let's say CLASS ACTION!

CIBC is the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, also pulls this same scam. This is one of my main reasons for switching to a Credit Union, and I've been happy ever since.

I'm done with banks. So I have to invest a few bucks to start an account, but I will never lose that any ways. There's no banking fees, and if I use an Exchange ATM, I don't get dinged.

Even if there is a fee, for some services, they cost way less than a bank. There were a time when bandits robbed banks, but now banks rob their customers.

IBC charged me after I had them close my account i just found out a year later

maybe you just need to keep track of what you spend and stop using float times to your liking. that is called stealing. maybe you all should just put all your cash under your matresses and hope for the best...morons

Stealing? From who?

Ourselves?

It's our money! It's the banks who are the thieves.

I am sure you are an employee of IBC. IBC uses the pending and paid status at their convenience. Why doesnโ€™t the FDIC get involved.

Guest

to MRX thats the thing with IBC its slightly hard to keep track of wut your spending. I physically write down everything but because of the *** service and *** excuses they always find some way to charge you.

I recently put $100 into my account i then realized it wasnt in the account that my card was linked to. When i called to tranfer this money to my other account they charged me and OD charge then charged me an additional 9 bucks service charge just to transfer my money

I agree, the IBC bank is cheating us. I withdrew $1300 from my account with a positive balance of $1800 and made purchases of $1.58 and then had a deposit of $1716 go in the next day.

They charged me for the first withdrawal $29 with a positive balance, then proceeded to charge me for five more items the same amout while holding a positive balance and when questioned they said they would refund the money but needed a senior representative to look at it and would call me back. A week later the charges was still there and when called stated that they had reviewed it and the pending and posted dates is what made my account go into overdraft. I asked how could that be when I could not be in the negative and that they are just taking my money.

I asked who can I talk to and they said no one because it was already reviewed. What they are doing has to be criminal.

They have done the same to me. I left them this message today.

I had a balance of $94.10, my insurance payment went through for $94.03. I mistakenly used my bank card to rent movies and was charged $3.90. Why am I paying two $35.00 overdraft fees?

No matter which transaction went through first, I would have had sufficient funds to cover either of the two transactions.

I was ripped off by the "I'm Being Cheated" Bank also just 3 days ago. They reversed 3 of the 5 OD fees as a "courtesy" to me.

So I am cancelling my account as a courtesy to myself!!! LOL

I actually had an overdraft charged to me after I withdrew cash from the LOBBY TELLER. And the balance was never below zero (it was close, but not below). Thankfully they didn't argue the point and quickly reversed it.

But, the way they bookkeep makes it difficult for a regular card user to figure out. What happened to one transaction, one line, next transaction next line in the book--serial order? The "pending" versus "posted" is unintuitive. Maybe this is the new normal?

If it happens again, I'll have to see if I can find a more traditional bank. I'll have to live without the bee-suit guy.

Why not just close your account? Don't be ***.

Why keep paying Overdraft fees if you don't like them. And a Law Suit, are you serious? Read your contract/Agreement. I'm sure it's all stated there in plain english.

My advise, close your account and go somewhere else, or start managing your finances. Idiots.

If I took them to small claims court over these fees would they show up?? I just dont know what to do about it.

So many people are not even overdrawn and are still charged tons of fees. Someone needs to stop these fees.

I have had my debit card cloned. The amount went into negitive amount. I have closed the card and now every single day, I am charged between $31 to $34 dollars for charges I did not make!

I should know. I live in NJ. the person who bought with the cloned card was in Florida.

The bank will not flag any charges until the post, not pending. Pending means it did not reach the bank. As they state.

Fraudulant charges on my account for over $400 from a Florida shopping spree. One problem, I WAS NEVER IN FLORIDA.

Still waiting on paperwork to sign to clear all these charges. So in the meantime, I am incurring NSF charges around $90 per DAY! Fraud on top of fraud.

I just wanted to let everyone to know the results of this dispute. I complained to every state and federal financial agency I could find.

I complained to the BBB to no avail. I finally complained to the FDIC and within a week received a $500 "good faith" refund from IBC. Hmmm, do you think they were try to keep the FDIC from digging too deep? So, my advice to ALL of you out there who have had this same problem is to contact the FDIC.

They HAVE to investigate ALL complaints. And they scare the *** out of IBC!!!!

I know from personal experience about over drafting in my account. It has happened a couple of times.

Once was when I was still positive. BUT when they showed me my daily trasactions (which includes the money I promised to a vendor eventhough they haven't taken it out) it showed that I was actually negative. That is why it is so important to keep a regrister. You can't promise money you don't have.

Plus do you really think you can get away with a law suite?

The judge is going to ask if you signed anything agreeing to the terms and conditions. And I am 99.9% sure you did.

Sounds like a couple of the comments were made by people who eithere work for the bank or have family who work for the bank. This site is called Pissed Consumer, not Defensive Teller. Please, Go make you own web site.

I have been banking with Ibc bank for 5 years and all the complains that I'm reading is because most of you people don't understand the way that Ibc bank processes. I would like to tell anybody that if they keep a transaction register it will help you keep a record of your balance and don't over spend.

Many of you think that you pay a lot in od charges it's only $27.00 compare to bank of america which is $35.00 and going up. I agree with some of the complains about branches but if you call the customer service department and not be upset or *** about it they will help you. They have refund $300.00 in od fees and when I call there are good with trying to help with the problems that we have and the problems at the branches. Also the online banking will show the posted transactions and will not show any pending transaction fot that specific day.

If you have $200.00 there is a pending transaction for $180.00 and a check clears for $22.00 dlls you have over spend ($2.00) and you are charge an od fee. Is so easy to complain about any bank or any company there is always unhappy customers and the only thing that I can tell everybody is if your not happy don't bank with Ibc move to another bank.(ignorant people)

I'm so glad I found this site! I just had the most frustrating 2 days arguing with them over fees I should not have. I took in the print out and showed where it posted to my account leaving a positive balance and then the overdraft fee with a positive amount still left. I have 128.00 in overdraft fees now. The assistant manager said she doesn't agree with the new "Governmental Starndards" and that she really doesn't understand it very well. She said she would submit my claim to see if I can get it reversed.

This is not the first time I've had overdraft issues with them.

I never had a problem before I switched to IBC. If I've truely made an error I'll pay for it but when my account is showing a positive balance even after the transaction and your fee there's a problem.

I'll be switching banks!

I too have had eerily similar scenarious happen. We must do something about it together!!! United we Stand!!! I am very, very, very frustrated at the moment - too much to go into detail about exactly what happened, as I'm not able to concentrate right now. I believe in the Truth and justice, and now that I've happened upon this site, I am hoping there are enough of us to which similar evils have happened, that we will come together to help each other win this! I left an IBC branch - (specifically the one @ 19th & Portland in OKC) earlier today, enfuriated, almost having a panic attack due to how frustrated I was - after which, a headache ensued. I now have spent the rest of the day not being able to think about anything other than this - as I may not have enough gas money to get to school on Monday - which means I may get kicked out (I'm only able to have 1 absence during the summer session). And get this: after I had explained to her about how previous employees I'd spoken with, who said to me that if the transaction is in "pending" it has not yet "posted" to your account, she preceded to tell me some other rather suspicious excuses, which still left me at a loss as to how this happened. Also, she stated that she didn't think she should forgive the overdraft charges, bc in January of this year there were something like $100 + in overdraft fees she noticed on my account, and someone had given me back more than the amount that was overdrawn. So once again, they were making an excuse due to a mistake THEY had made, not me!!! Very Ironic, don'tcha think.

W/all this, I explained to her how I didn't think a majority of the employees were very well trained, because it seems that many times I have a problem, it takes a group of them gathering together, and eventually going to the kingpin manager to come give me some bs excuse about the whole matter.

They also held $400 dollars of my money up for at least a week and a half. After I was lied to by a few employees w/online banking, who stated to me they would work on the issue, only to find out (when I spoke w/the corporate office) that it was as if there was no record of me even speaking to anyone about the issue.

Because of having to wait for my $400 for such a long time - I was not able to conduct an ebay transaction - which also led to a bad report on me by another ebay member (I was going to start my ebay business, but after starting off to a bad start, was not able to)

I was not, however, able to charge them overdraft charges for the $400 they lost of my money for almost 2 weeks!!!

I am willing to work @ this to help myself and others.
